Unattached Trailer & RV Parking Reminder – Town of Edson
The Town of Edson reminds residents that unattached trailers and recreational vehicles (RVs) are subject to specific parking rules under Traffic Bylaw No. 2291.
- Trailers must be FULLY connected to a towing vehicle - this means securely hitched, not just attached by safety chains or electrical plugs or just hovering over the hitch.
- Slides must be IN - trailers and RVs with slide-outs extended onto public property or roadways are not allowed.
- Park on the Correct Side - trailers and RVs must be parked on the proper side of the road, in accordance with traffic flow and signage.
- Time Limits for RVs - RVs may be parked on a public roadway for up to 72 consecutive hours. After that, they must be moved off the roadway for at least 48 hours before returning.
Why This Matters:
Improperly parked or unsecured trailers and RVs can obstruct traffic, pose safety risks, and interfere with municipal operations like snow removal and street cleaning.
What You Can Do:
- Store trailers and RVs on private property or in approved storage locations in accordance with local bylaws.
- Ensure they do not block sidewalks or boulevards.
- Use public roadways responsibly and within permitted timeframes.
