Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Regulations in the Town of Edson

As we head into warmer months, the Town of Edson is reminding residents and visitors about the proper use of Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs) within town limits. Please review the following regulations to help keep everyone safe and respectful in our community.
Safety Requirements:

Helmets are mandatory for all riders.

OHVs must be equipped with at least one working headlight and one working taillight.

Valid insurance and registration are required.
Where You Can Ride:
OHV use is permitted in town only for the purpose of loading/unloading or traveling directly to and from your residence. Riders must use:

Ditches
-
Shoulders
-
Alleyways (preferred)
-
Far right-hand side of the road if no ditch or shoulder is available
Where You Cannot Ride:

School grounds or playgrounds
-
Parks or cemeteries
-
Town-owned property including trails (unless permitted)

Highway 16 (2nd and 4th Avenue) and Highway 748 (25th Street)
Time Restrictions:

OHV use is prohibited between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM.
Age and Supervision:
-
Riders under the age of 14 must be supervised by an adult.
General Use Rules:

Maximum speed limit is 30 km/h.

Ride single file.
-
No excessive noise.
-
Always yield to pedestrians and regular vehicle traffic.

Obey all posted traffic signs.
