2024 Mill Rate Bylaw. Council has passed the 2024 Mill Rate Bylaw. The mill rate refers to the amount of tax payable per $1000 of a property’s assessed value and is used to generate the municipal taxation revenue required by the Town. There are also mill rates calculated for the schools, and Evergreens (Seniors) requisitions, which are amounts the Town is required to collect for third parties. Committee Meeting. A Committee of the Whole Meeting has been scheduled for May 28, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in the Edson Civic Centre.
Edson & District Recycling Society Contract. Council has directed Administration to extend the current contract with the Edson & District Recycling Society to June 30, 2025. In the spirit of the current contract, a 2% fee increase will be reflected in the extension and included in the 2025 Operating Budget.
FCSS Grants. Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Grants are applied for and given out each year at the recommendation of the FCSS Advisory Board and approval of Edson Town Council. With a budget of $12,300, Council has accepted the recommendations and awarded the following grants:
- Edson United Church - $2,500
- Edson and District Community Learning Society - $1,000
- Edson Food Bank Society - $3,600
- Yellowhead Emergency Shelter for Women Society - $5,200
